Folder Presets

Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 12, 2026

Summary: Folder Presets does not collect, track, sell, or share personal data.

On-device data

Your presets, folder paths, placeholder values, hotkey assignments, authorized-folder bookmarks, Quick Jump history, folder templates, and settings are stored locally on your Mac. Folder Presets does not require an account and does not upload this data to a developer server.

Folder access

The Mac App Store version runs inside App Sandbox. It can open only folders inside roots you explicitly authorize through the folder picker or a Grant Access prompt. It remembers access locally with security-scoped bookmarks and opens preset folders with standard macOS workspace APIs.

Finder extension and local commands

Folder Presets includes an optional sandboxed Finder extension that adds commands to Finder's contextual menu and toolbar. The extension uses a finderpresets:// link to hand a requested command and the selected folder to the main app on your Mac. Shortcuts actions and Services-menu items call the same local command-handling flow directly. These integrations do not send anything off your Mac.

Quick Jump, templates, and diagnostics

Quick Jump searches only folders you have authorized. Its optional File contents mode queries the macOS Spotlight index on your Mac for indexed text in those folders. The search terms, results, indexed text, recent choices, and your folder templates remain on your Mac and are not sent to the developer. Exported templates are plain files that you save wherever you choose.

If macOS makes crash diagnostics available to Folder Presets, they remain in the app's local container. They are shared only if you choose Report a Problem and send them yourself.

Automation

The Mac App Store version does not send Apple Events, automate System Events, request Accessibility access, inspect Finder windows or documents through automation, or control third-party apps. The optional Quick Jump content search described above uses only macOS Spotlight's local index.

App Store purchases

Folder Presets uses Apple's StoreKit and App Store services only to load product information, start or restore the free 14-day trial, and purchase or restore the one-time Lifetime unlock. Apple processes transactions; Folder Presets does not receive or store payment-card details. Previously verified access and local folder workflows continue to work offline.

Analytics and advertising

Folder Presets includes no analytics, advertising, telemetry, or third-party tracking SDKs.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated policy will be posted here with a revised effective date.
