Folder Presets

Support

Folder Presets is a menu bar app for opening project folders and web links in saved sets, finding files quickly, and creating new project folder structures from reusable templates.

System requirements

Getting started

  1. Open Folder Presets from the menu bar and create a preset.
  2. Add folders by dragging them in from Finder or using the folder picker, then reorder them as needed.
  3. Optionally use [date], [x], or a custom [Name] placeholder to make a path dynamic.
  4. For a custom placeholder that represents a folder level, a partial name is enough. Matching is case-insensitive and checks exact, prefix, then contains matches inside the folder tree you authorized.
  5. Open the preset from Settings, the menu bar, or a user-assigned global hotkey.

Quick Jump and folder templates

Quick Jump searches by partial file name inside folders you authorize. If you turn on File contents, it queries macOS Spotlight's on-device text index for those authorized folders instead of reading or uploading files itself. It also supports multiple words, file-type filters, hidden-file controls, and pinyin matching for Chinese names.

Create Preset Folders builds a nested folder structure from a template inside a folder you choose. Templates can use date, time, and prompted-name placeholders, and can be exported or imported as local files.

Finder extension, Shortcuts, and Services

The optional Finder extension adds Folder Presets commands to Finder's contextual menu and toolbar. Turn it on once in System Settings > Extensions > Finder. Shortcuts actions and Services-menu commands are also available for common workflows.

Trial and purchase

The optional 14-day full-feature trial starts only after you confirm the free App Store transaction. It does not renew and never charges automatically. A separate one-time Lifetime purchase permanently unlocks access. Restore Purchases is available in Settings.

Access and permissions

Folder Presets opens only folders inside roots you explicitly authorize. It stores those permissions locally using security-scoped bookmarks and opens preset folders with standard macOS workspace APIs.

The Mac App Store version does not use Apple Events, System Events, Accessibility automation, or UI scripting.
